Ecstatic

The waiting is over. He got a position. More details to follow but here is his gorgeous face in his interview suit!

In sad news my Nan had a stroke today. She is doing ok, though at 88 years of age it is a worry. Especially being so far away.

Snippets

Just a little update really.

We are still waiting to hear on Daniel's job interview that was on Friday. It was for an almost identical position as he was doing in the UK. I'm anxious as we haven't heard anything either way. I hate waiting. I'm not a patient person. At all. I so much want good things to happen for him. He deserves it. He takes care of me and never complains about his situation. I know he only got his worl permit a few weeks ago but I so badly want him to be happy out here in the USA. I know we both dreamed of living out here. We love to travel and see new places. I know he wanted to come, but I feel like it's all about me. Which leads me to my next point....

I did get accepted eventually to do some extra tuition at school. I chose to recontact them and I'm glad I did as I don't think my application got through to them first time round. Second time round I was accepted and I'm glad to do it, it will be in my own school, 2 days a week for a little over 2 hours. I will be tutoring about 6 Kindergarten kids. It will be from Monday coming until mid May. I'm glad of the financial stability for the summer and it means we dont have to be SO tight on our monthly budget.

Ihave to tell my favourite story from my day at school. I am KNOWN to my kids at school for wearing odd socks! We tend to have many fun stripey or character socks and we pretty much just throw them all in the drawer and share. Almost daily, my kids ask to see my socks. Today they matched. Then a little girl in my class said 'look MY socks!' She had one pink one and one white one! I asked did Mommy put those on, she said 'No, me! I be like you!' It really made my day.

Be My Valentine...

This week I got to experience Valentine's Day in the USA. I can tell you, it was a bigger deal to the kids in my class than Christmas.

At Christmas, I think 2 children brought me a present. (Not that I expect presents) but to compare, 8 children got me a valentines gift.

No children give each other Christmas cards, but at least 10 brought either little cards or gifts for their friends. And we have a party and the end of the day where they give out what they brought and eat party food!

Here is what they gave me....

This weekend has been stressful trying to figure out our USA taxes - we were filing online then found out we are not allowed to do this as we are not natives.

So i hid under the covers for a while to make it all go away. It didn't work.

We are supposed to be having breakfast with our good friend Amy in a little while so that should be nice.

How do you eat yours?

I almost had a seizure in Walmart when I found these. I have to say the inside wasn't quite right, not runny enough but it was good enough!

I bite off the top, get the filling out then eat the shell!

I made meatballs for the first time ever last night. They came out fairly well, though I think I can improve on it next time to get a little more flavor and make my own sauce.

To make them you needed one egg. One! Walmart only sold them by the dozen. No half dozen. So we will be having scrambled egg for breakfast and I bought a cookie mix to bake some cookies! We will be all egged out.!!

The weekend has been pretty laid back so far, only really went out to get the groceries, and we have been watching season one of skins which I have never seen, it has been extremely enjoyable!

25 interesting things about me

This isn't going to be easy.......

1. I get nervous when a cop car is driving behind me! Like I freak OUT! I'm not usually doing anything wrong so I don't know why!

2. Both of my brothers are adopted into our family.

3. I have lived in 10 different houses and 1 apartment during my lifetime. We moved around a lot!

4. I love to watch figure skating on TV - I just literally love it! Michelle Kwan is my favorite ever skater.

5. I secretly want to take dance lessons. And I will, eventually.

6. I have eaten crocodile, wildebeest and rhino. In South Africa.

7. I hate seafood. Almost all of it. If (when in the UK) we get fish and chips I share a tiny bit of Daniel's fish. The rest of it... no thanks!

8. I name my cars by the first letter of their number (license) plate. So far I have had Jemima, Jo-Jo, Morgan and now Wednesday.

9. I am terrible for not listening to a whole song on my ipod or on the car. I skip so much because other songs pop into my head and I want to hear them NOW!

10. Spending Christmas in NYC with just my husband for company is one of my favorite things to remember.

11. When I was little my Nan would take me to the indoor market and offer to buy me a bag of sweets. I picked grapes. It became a tradition!

12. I think my Olympus camera that Daniel got me last year for my birthday could be my favorite present ever.

13. I love my kids in my class and my K team to bits. Plus many others who have been so lovely to me, making our move here so easy.

14. When I was 6 I won a competition to switch on the Gloucester Christmas lights. I had to stand on the balcony of Debenhams (department store) and then ride around the streets on Santa's sleigh. I painted a picture to win. I entered every year until I won!

15. I used to take ballet class and one year got picked to be the Christmas fairy at an old folks home, showering them with fairy dust and waving my magic wand.

16. photogrpahy is a great love of mine.

17. I dont actually like the taste of alcohol so much. I like to drink coke or pepsi.

18. I really believe a hot cup of tea makes things better all round. Try it.

19. I can't stand to be lost. I hate driving to new places. I panic hugely if I am lost. Ask Daniel he will tell you.

20. Rent is my all time favorite musical and I got to see it in NYC in 2007 before it closed down.

21. I love to travel and can never stay in one place for too long.

22. I achieved my life long dream of swimming with dolphins in August 2004, in Orlando, Florida. I want to do it again though.

23. This is the first place we have lived where we have had a dishwasher. Doing the dishes manually is my least favorite chore, I would rather clean the whole house. Having said that, I didn't have to do it very often.

24. I was scared of dogs until I met a wonderful dog called Jock. He is awesome. I love him to bits.

25. I think Daniel will have already known every single thing I have written here.

Maybe this time....I'll be lucky

Well I'm not holding my breath but it is tax return time here in the UK. I used an online calculator and it looks like I could be in for some money back which would make the summer a million times easier! (I only get paid over 10 months)

Also I'm hoping to be selected to tutor on Saturdays - an extra $500 or so a month

And more than anything I'm thinking good thoughts for Daniel. I hope he can find a job quickly, and one he loves.

Today I feel...hopeful. x
